Owner Jon Schaefer has been a friend of Snowology since back in 2019, and we have seen them continue to grow in both capabilities and popularity. Last season they installed their new high speed detachable quad called the T-Bar Express which gets you to the top in just a little over 4 minutes allowing you to lap their nearly 1,000' of vertical and rack up some serious mileage. The added capacity has also shortened lift lines on weekends and holidays without crowding their trails. Some might not understand this, but Berkshire East has a fall line similar in steepness to the North Face at Mount Snow, in fact it's one of the steepest from base to summit in the Northeast. With great grooming, experience in changing up operations to optimize snow quality, and fan guns lining all of the major trails, the conditions are generally great and edgeable for the entire day even after those flash freezes.

Our favorite thing about Berkshire East though is that they are one of the closest mountains to the big cities that offers real glade skiing and riding. When those nor'easters run just offshore pounding them with snow, plenty of natural terrain comes into play, but without too many people. It's worth the hunt!

Berkshire East though is best known as a community mountain and a family mountain with deep roots in their racing programs. It's the type of place where kids see Jon while in line and give him a fist bump. He grew up at this mountain after his father purchased it for $1 back in the 1970's after it had fallen on hard times, and it's just different when your business is an extension of your entire life. That's where the true soul of skiing and riding comes from.

Thanks to Jon and the rest of the Berkshire East family for welcoming our community back again to yours!
