Minor Storm Update #1: Fri-Sat 12/20-21

We're going to get lucky this weekend. Yeah, this isn't a big storm, but believe me, it's going to make a difference this weekend and it will also likely cause some ropes to drop. Let's start with the broad view showing a 3-hour precipitation intensity loop from the ECMWF covering all of Friday and Saturday.

We have a clipper that is going to transfer its energy to a storm that develops off the coast of North Carolina which then tracks up through the Maritimes. The transfer will leave behind moisture that will interact with the outflow of this storm to create a weak convergence zone over primarily NY and VT and as the storm pulls away the wind will pick up and create some upsloping and lake effect that should last through Saturday afternoon.

The primary storm will also affect parts of the New England seacoast late tonight which should benefit a handful of ski areas there as well. Conservatively we may see some areas of NY and VT reach up to 6" and 8" respectively and I'll cover those details as well as a discussion of Sunday's very limited wind concerns in the Precipitation Forecast below.
