We've got ahead of us what looks like one of the best Christmas holiday weeks the Northeast ski industry has seen in quite some time. You have to remember that people who don't ski frequently and come out on holidays tend to have trouble with deep powder as well has icy hardpack, but our last notable rain event was 10 days ago followed by lots of snowmaking windows including this current cold air mass which is making beautiful man-made snow (it comes out softer in these temps) as well as some fluff from a couple of clippers already with another coming Monday night. Terrain has also expanded nicely with many larger ski areas starting to pass over 50% of their man-made snow trails opening.
There are a lot of folks with pass blackouts next week, but I want to remind our subscribers that after Christmas many of our Snowology Club discount partners are offering 50% off a ticket during the holiday week, which is an incredible opportunity to explore and ski. Bolton Valley, Snow Ridge, Royal Mountain, and Titus Mountain all have no blackouts for when you can use these discounts. We do ask however that when using the discounts, please read and follow the instructions for redemption carefully! Some you MUST redeem online before you arrive!
We do have more discount partners coming on board, possibly even this week, so keep your eyes peeled!
We have a pretty quiet week ahead with just two notable systems and lots of absolutely perfect weather. I'll start with the Synoptic Outlook which will take the bird's eye view of our weather and then I will cover the Daily Outlooks one day at a time with brief summaries highlighting what is of note with a snowfall forecast for the storm ending Tuesday morning.
One last note before I dive in. It's a holiday and you need to hold back and be super aware with the increase in people and the lower overall skill and experience on the hill. Even in the park you need to make sure families aren't using the huge kickers as a fun ride over the knuckle and then stop below it (they obviously shouldn't be there, but they will be there at times). The goal is not to be correct about who has the right of way, it's not get injured or injure someone else when it can be avoided.
