There will be no blockbusters this week, but it's going to be one of the best weeks overall of the season for many. Unfortunately the string of fantastic conditions in PA, NJ, the Southern Tier of NY, and into much of Southern New England is likely going to end for the moment as a storm moseys in from the south and tries to take on the Polar Jet Stream starting Friday and ending Saturday morning. So let's dive right into the broad view from the GFS all of Friday and Saturday.
This storm seems most likely to drop just up to 6" of snow across a tight area at this time with some variability from 50% to 200% of that possible, but there is risk of freezing r@!n just south of the changeover line, and r@!n further south which will be impactful to conditions on Saturday with a refreeze. It will also likely come with some wind holds on Saturday and travel issues on Friday evening, so it's impactful in many ways and worth of coverage and also attention.
I'll cover the the Precipitation Forecast with a deeper discussion of the travel and conditions issues, and then the Wind Hold Forecast. The next update will likely come Thursday morning because I want to hunt some of this pow also, but I will send out a quick note on Wednesday if there are any major shifts.
