Whiteface is serving up some sweet corn on Skyward. It's spring, embrace it! 📷 Whiteface

Weekend Outlook: Fri-Mon 3/14-17

Yeah, that kind of happened quick. Spring sprung this week as we cycled through some cooler and warmer temps, but that's how corn is made. Last week I gave my first call to sharpen those edges, and today I'm going to put out the call to slather some wax on your bases as temps warm. The best way to do this quick is just to take a bar of all temperature or spring wax and rub it on the base of your skis or board. They call this crayoning on the wax. Doesn't hurt to scrape it off, but that's not always necessary when things are above freezing.

Many skiers and riders get seasonal affective disorder when the snow melts. Some simply up and quit as soon as their grass starts to green up, but the trick is to simply embrace it. Break out the tutu or your favorite costume, bring a cooler and a grill, ditch the goggles for sunglasses, and enjoy. There's plenty of season left, it's just a different type of skiing and riding.

Going into the weekend we do of course have a storm, but the timing of it may save Sunday for many weekenders out there, though even if you dodge the r@!n there will be some strong southerly wind that will cause some issues and you may want to dodge that also. Here's a look at what the next 4 days looks like in the ECMWF right now to get things going.

We're honestly kind of lucking out with this. R@!n will generally range from 0.5"-1.5" across the region and we'll plunge back into freezing temps across the region on Monday at varying times. You can definitely hit Friday through Monday in one spot and stay dry during the ski day as the worst of it happens on Sunday night.

I'm going to walk through each day for subscribers focusing on whatever is important in the forecast, especially the timing of the r@!n and the wind.
