Spring is springing, and it's also leaking a bit but as things go at this time of season we'll actually freeze up again starting on Monday night through probably Thursday morning of next week. In the meantime warm r@!n of course means snowpack loss and now over half of Northeast ski areas have closed for the season in just the past 2 weeks but 57 tracked ski areas in the Northeast and Quebec are either open daily or planning on opening this weekend (there are additional Quebec ski areas that we don't track yet).
I just wanted to give everyone a brief update of the weather through the weekend so that you could prepare, but I will do a fuller standard Weekend Update on Thursday with more detail. Here's a loop of the GFS showing Wednesday through Sunday to start things off.
I'm going to cover the Precipitation Outlook and share a detailed status of Projected Open Ski Areas that are planning to open for the weekend including trail counts!
