Well, this is a bad melt, especially in the southern half of the region. By the time things freeze back up on Thursday my expectation is that most natural snow will be gone down to the 1,000' level in the northern areas except near the mountains since that snowpack is deeper. Snowmaking terrain is also taking a hit in the southern half of the region (south of the Albany, NY latitude), in fact Roundtop in PA has already announced that this is their last weekend coming up, but snowmaking terrain should have full depth still in the northern half of the region. Natural terrain throughout the region might only have cover from Killington and north in Vermont at ski areas and maybe around Cannon, Saddleback, and Sugarloaf at upper elevations, but you'll definitely not want to hit that when below freezing until fresh snow stacks up or things melt again.

After Thursday and for at least the next 10 days our weather will likely transition to being dominated by a PNA+ pattern with warm ridging in the West and cooler troughing in the East which should at a minimum slow the melting dramatically, and this general pattern may in fact last through the end of the month. Out West though this is bad with a combination of warm and dry weather. If you are looking to fly out West to ski, I would target the Canadian Rockies as they are generally a winner in a PNA+ pattern given their latitude and models do show them getting pounded.

Will we get snow also? Yes, probably only a little on Thursday as the cold air comes in, probably more widely spread on Friday night into Saturday with what looks like a minor storm with accumulations generally less than 6", and again on Sunday but that is probably transitional. Here's what the GFS sees currently through Sunday.

I'm going to break this outlook down into those three systems which span every day but today which of course is warm and generally sunny.
