Bases were built this last week and with a fresh topping are skiing well. 📷 Sugarloaf

The Week Ahead: Mon-Sun 1/15-21

We saw two sort of sloppy systems in the last week that built some durable bases on the mountains. With some extra snow on the top ropes have been dropping in some northern areas on natural snow again. The Mt. Mansfield snow stake currently sits at 46", six inches above average, Saddleback and Jay Peak are over 90% open now, Smuggs opened Madonna for the first time this season, Whiteface and Gore are dropping ropes on natural snow terrain, and even Blue Knob in the Alleghenies is almost entirely open. In the southern and more coastal reaches colder temps returned just in time to open some back up for the holiday and allowed others to add terrain where it has been lacking due to warm temps.

The main events of this week will be two storms, below average temperatures with tons of snow being made. Lake effect snow will also continue through the weekend. The following week we are likley to get back into a warm and even less active pattern through the end of the month. The best conditions until February will likely be found this week, but you may want to bundle up as we're 1 week away from the coldest time of year in the Northeast.
